PHOTOCATALYTIC DEVICES FOR PURIFICATION AND DECONTAMINATION OF AIR

altBased on unique scientific-technical solutions protected by the patents of the RF, a family of photocatalytic air purifiers of various applications and capacities has been developed. The devices have been tested, and the production of pilot lots has been established at small enterprise «TIOKRAFT».
 

APPLICATION

Purification of air from pathogenic microflora and toxic organic pollutants of different genesis. Photocatalytic devices are recommended for air decontamination in offices, hotels, hospitals, pharmacies, schools, laboratories, etc.

MAIN ADVANTAGES

- Purification of air from molecular organic pollutants, bacteria and viruses without their accumulation inside the device due to their complete mineralization to carbon dioxide and water;
- Purification of air from volatile low-molecular-weight organic pollutants (formaldehyde, methane, acetaldehyde, etc.), which are poorly absorbed by carbon purification systems;
- Long working life of photocatalytic elements;
- The system of automatic make-and-break of the device in response to the signal of the built-in gas sensor reacting to the level of air contamination.

OPERATION MODE

The device operation is based on the photo­catalytic oxidation of organic admixtures on the surface of nano-crystalline TiO2 under ultraviolet irradiation.

Absorption of light with wavelength 315-400 nm is accompanied by the production of a free electron and electron vacancy (hole) in the bulk of the particle of semiconducting photocatalyst (TiO2). The electron reacts with oxygen to yield an oxygen radical able to oxidize an organic substance. The hole also reacts with adsorbed organic compound as an oxidizer.
